This area was full of large shrubs/ small trees constantly hacked off at window-ledge line. A few lily-like plants and other shrubery was in there. Good spot to plant morning sun things, so put in some palms, Brugmansias, cycads and has been the main spot to put in flowering things that I otherwise don't have room for (Cannas, fuschias, Lotus etc.). Soil is very well draining in this area, but probably should have been dug out and replaced- could be depleted of nutrients after all this time (old planter box). Brugmansias not happy over summer there, and lost a Canna, and others sad- probably under watered... but also under fertilized?

Here after planting the main larger things Feb 05. Note, the Agave vaombe was eventually planted in the back, and the Syngamus in the pot (placed there to cover up the water meter's unsightlyness) has since been planted there.. and now is creating its own unsightliness by being sunburned all the time... will need to dig that up.

Here's a photo showing the best flowering season for these plants- even the new lotus had flowers (barely alive today (1-06)). Hydrangea never looked better, too, and it's not looking great here.

Here in July the cycads had just been planted out front.

Sometime between May and September, planted cycads out front. Brugmansias had tough summer, but looking much better now.

Still flowering before Christmas- this is following some rains and the Brugmansias never looked better... but the Syngamus looks bad... need to remove that!

rare view of this end of the planter, where things just dont' seem to do well... not sure what the problem is.. almost gets no sun and seems tobe wet all the time... but may actually be dried out (water uptake is fast). Lepidozamia has not put out a leaf in well over a year. And Rhapis is a sad shadow of the one in the pot behind it. And Zamia is only 1/4 leaf size of others that size caudex. Hmmm... toxic soil?
