Royal Bonica '82, Bonica Meidiland, Demon, MEIdomonac Introduced by Meilland 1982. I ordered this rose in a group of 'Meidiland' roses in 1994 from Wayside Gardens in South Carolina. There were five altogether, and this is my first choice. Of the others 'Scarlet Meidiland' is my second favorite. This is my 12th year of growing this rose, and all I can say is "Nice"!
It is still sold by Wayside Gardens, and the following is from their catalog description: " Royal Bonica is long-blooming, colorful, and trouble-free! Big, slightly fragrant clusters of fully double, non-fading pink blooms arise in flushes all season long, each containing 20 or more perfectly-formed blooms. The plants are vigorous and bushy, 3 to 4 feet tall and about 4 feet wide--just the right size for hedges or a mass garden display. And it's from the House of Meilland, so you know it's one of the finest, highest-performing Roses in the world!"

I like to show this one when the buds are just beginning to open, and just afterward. The picture here says it better than me.

Royal Bonica has been gorgeous this month. It is always a rose to count on in spite of heat and rose chafers.
