Planted several years ago, the tiny spring flowers have perennialized and spread like mad. they form an attractive blue drift very early. Ideal for naturalizing on lawns in light shade. Reported hardy in Zones 4a-8b.

Here we are in Spring 2007, and I'm wondering where the year has gone so quickly! I have been so busy cleaning leaves, tree limbs and assorted debris from the yard and gardens that I've almost failed to notice new blooms appearing daily. I've taken a few shots of early spring bulbs, and this is (always) one of my favorites.

I couldn't resist getting a close up view in part shade. As I write our current temperature is at 31F with wind chills only in the teens. Needless to say this shot was taken in balmy 65 degree weather with sunshine.
