Initial Notes:

Family Name: Rosaceae. Height: 15 to 25 Feet. Canopy Width: Up to 20 Feet. Rate of Growth: Moderate to fast. Generic information: Hardiness Zones: 4 to 8 (some cultivars may be hardier) Habit: Varies from shrub-like to 30-foot trees with rounded, upright or weeping forms. Comments: Crabapples flower in the spring, depending on local weather conditions, and of course the hardiness zone.

This particular cultivar has bloomed faithfully, beginning in its second year after planting a 1 foot rooted cutting. The tree shown here is approximately five years old, and has been winter pruned at least twice. In its third year about half of its height was trimmed to shape and promote branching.

An updated photo of the same tree shown above from 2005. Note how it has begun to shape into lateral growth. Blooms are prolific!
