Early to mid-spring bloom depending on weather conditions. Often they will bloom after a few sunny days, and then be covered with snow. Hardy, reliable and welcome at this time of year.

One of the first to bloom, I found this one 'mysteriously' growing in an iris bed, however, the sun was absent so it did not begin to open.

It's amazing what a couple days of sunlight will do for these plants! Unfortunately today is cloudy, bleak and rainy; but I still got a picture before the rain started.

This year I am using a new Kodak Z650, and the color capture seems to be much more accurate. Of course there are always lighting conditions which cause a play on color. I wanted to not this information for all pictures in 2007. Below is one shot for color and quality comparison.
