Initial Notes:

It's a pity I don't have a name, or species for this little crocus. I saw them in a garden center a few years back, and was taken by the picture on the box; it was blue! However, the real thing is not blue, but more of a purple. It's apparently not the 'snow crocus' because those have come and gone; these are just now blooming beautifully! They seem to increase with each passing year, unlike the 'vernus' species. The Giant Dutch crocus are also now blooming, so this one (whatever it is) is a much later blooming cultivar.

Entries and Updates

This was our first full day of sun and warm temperatures, and these were popping out in bloom all over the lawn.

Another view of the same clump.

Right on schedule this little gem opens wide in bitter cold March wind. Note to self: I notice a sharper color with my new camera this year.
