It was early spring when I first saw one. It was the only shrub I had ever seen bloom as early as forsythia. It was the most beautiful shade of lilac, which looked so cheerful in the dreery weather. The bare branches were loaded with so many flowers, they looked like they were floating in air. I had to have one, but first I had to fiqure out what it was! I tried taking a picture and showing a few nurseries. One finally told me what it was, but didn't have any for sale. Neither did any other nursery in a 30 mile radius. I searched for this plant all summer. I have finally found one that seemed worth ordering from Hyperlink I received it today May 12, 2006, after ordering it only yesterday. The purchase price was $35 and the shipping was $15. Well worth the money to receive so quickly, and it is a very good size. It measures 32" tall and is well branched. Unfortunatley it just finished blooming. It still has some spent blooms on the branches and it is well leafed out. So I won't know if it blooms the same, as the one I fell in love with, until next year. Now if this dreery weather we are supposed to have for 10 days straight would quit, I will finally plant my prized beauty!

I am very happy with my purchase. I can't wait until next spring to see this baby bloom!

I don't think this is a mucronulatum like it was sold to me as. It never lost it's leaves and the color seems the same as a P.J.M.

I asked the people that have the original shrub I fell in love with if I could take a couple small cuttings. They said yes and here they are, I plan on dipping them in rooting hormone and trying to get them to root.

It held it's leaves all year, they turned mahogany in fall and curled up when it was very cold but never fell off. This leads me to believe it is not a mucronulatum.
