Purchased from GardensOfTheBlueRidge.com May 2006. 2 plants in gallon pots

Height: 1-2'
Spread: 12"
Spacing: 18"
Exposure: Sun
Soil: Cool

-Host plant for the endangered Karner Blue butterfly caterpillar and nectar source.
-Native Plant
-Natural to clearings in pine barrens with poor dry soil.
-Doesn't like root compitition.

I got one bloom from the plant on the right so far. It has a new flower stalk growing. I'll be sure to get a picture of it when it blooms.

Only one of the two plants returned this year. It was the one that didn't flower last year, and this year it flowered beautifully.

The original plants are gone but I noticed some self sown seedlings.
I am not sure that these are in fact Lupinus perennis. I think they are Lupinus polyphyllus. I've seen Lupinus perennis growing in the wild locally and they don't get as tall nor do the flowers get as big as the ones I had.
