This is another TB I had to wait for two iris seasons for it to bloom. And bloom it has: 11 stems from one massive clump! If this is any indication of its vigor and growth habits, it ranks among the best TB's! I've reviewed and analyzed hundreds of TB cultivars, and have seen many irises that (in my frank opinion) should NEVER have been registered or introduced!!! They simply do not grow well here away from the PNW. At the same time, I have seen gorgeous irises that grow and bloom through the most difficult weather conditions; yet they rarely get an HM, AM, or any recognition in "The Iris Mecca"! With these thoughts appropriately addressed, 'High Class' goes to the front of MY class!
The following information is from the AIS Data Base Check List: ["(Paul Black, R. 2002). Sdlg. H62A. TB 38" (97 cm) ML. " S. pale blue, crystalline rim; style arms pale blue, midrib violet; F. dark velvety purple, narrow medium violet rim, white veins by and dart at end of beard; beards light violet at end, gold, to orange gold in throat; pronounced sweet fragrance. Tempting Fate X Intimidator., Mid-America 2003."]

Photo update 5/31/08. Taken in overcast skies showing far too much blue. The colors should show more of the red violet hues which make this an outstanding iris!
