I confess, I ordered this iris out of curiosity last year after reading some of the rave reviews I had read in the AIS Bulletins from time to time. The owner of the establishment I ordered it from sent me an e-mail explaining he had only small sub-standard rhizomes left, but would send it if I still wanted it. I replied that I would accept the small rz: When the package arrived it contained THREE of the "smaller" rz's! And, I am happy to report "size ain't everything": All three bloomed- beautifully!! The color pattern is unusual, and I have trouble dealing with weird names (e.g. "Magharee", "Owyhee Desert", etc.) that I can't pronounce, and am often asked to explain HOW the plant got a name "like that". Also, it grows much shorter than TB status here; more like an IB. Enough of my thoughts: It's nice bottom line!

I wanted to add the AIS Checklist information here; this helps me keep the historical record straight: ["(Lucille Pinkston, R. 1996). Sdlg. 88-1-A. TB 36" (91 cm) ML. "S. and style arms white; F. rusty brown, washed gold, white ray pattern from beard area, yellow halo, white wire rim; beards light yellow, deeper in throat; slight fragrance. Wild Jasmine X unknown., Sand Hollow 1997. HM 1999"] Also shown in this entry is a frontal view of the flower.
