This seedling I really like, but I have serious doubts about its general health. It seems prone to rot, leaf spot and other conditions; and I do not plan to save it. If it rots, it can rot!! As stated previously, I'm a realist, and an iris will either "sink or swim" on its own: There's no need prolonging the inevitable! Time will tell, and I have two large compost heaps. The plant sent up three stems, and that's not bad for a first-year seedling. But as noted in the above entry, I have SERIOUS concerns about its general health, and time will be the deciding factor.

Another positive is its bloom habit of opening three buds at once. With all the rainy, windy weather, I must confess I took every available opportunity to get whatever picture I could. And most were in poor lighting conditions as seen here. Also note the leaf spot forming on the fan at lower left.
