Initial Notes:

Propagation by seed: pre-chill seeds for 8 to 10 weeks or place seeds in a plastic bag together with growing medium and refrigerate for 3 months. Most success when seeds are started indoors. Requires light for germination – do not cover. Germination in 15 to 20 days at 65 to 75 F.

Other propagation methods: cuttings or divide in spring (zones 2 to 6) or autumn (zones 7 to 10). May self seed.

Care: Plant seedlings outdoors 2 to 3 weeks after last frost when temperatures remain above 40F. Requires full sun or part shade with shade from hot afternoon sun in the south. Space 18 to 25 inches apart. Soil: moist, humus rish with a pH of 6 to 7.5. Water frequently during dry periods and keep mulched all year.
