Tall Bearded Iris

Have you ever looked INSIDE an Iris flower? These showy flowers are gorgeous, but it's when you venture past the outer petals that things really get interesting.

This monarch chrysalis is just 24 hrs. old. I love the translucent green with the metallic gold and black accents. What a gem of nature! During the summer we raise and release monarchs as a family project. Taken with a Nikon D90 using a 105mm Nikkor macro lens.
