Dave's Garden Cookbook: Beef Stew
Category: Soups and sandwiches
1 good size head of cabbage; cut in small sections
1 large can stewed tomatoes
1 large can mixed vegetables (I use the Veg-All Homestyle; bigger chunks)
1 large can carrots
1 large can of new potatoes
salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions:In large stockpot;brown the stew meat just until good and brown on the outside.
Add the cabbage and onion and enough water to cover all ingredients. Cook until tender.
Add remaining ingredients;liquid and all.
Let the stew simmer all day;or you can but this in your slow cooker and just walk away and let it cook all day long. The longer it sets the better the flavor.
Extra Notes:If you have home grown veggies, that would be great. I never have any garden veggies so have to use the canned vegetables.
I have also made a large batch and have frozen part of the recipe to have for another time.
