Never Fail Pastry

5 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. salt
1 lb. shortening
1 egg
cold water
1 Tbsp. vinegar

Sift flour and salt into large mixing bowl; cut in shortening until mixture resembles meal.
Put egg in measuring cup and beat slightly; add cold water to mak 1 cup liquid. Add vinegar. Make well in flour mixture; pour liquid in slowly, stirring with a fork until well mixed. Mixture will make 8 pie crusts; may be rolled and frozen or used immediately. Bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
