Pie pastry for two 9 inch crusts
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
6 large, firm, granny smith apples
2 Tbsp. butter
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line 9 inch pie pan with half the pastry dough. Mix sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour in a large bowl. Peel, core, and slice apples; toss them in sugar mixture until coated well. Pile into pie shell, and dot with butter. Put second pie shell over apple mixture. Crimp edges of crusts to seal; and make several slits in the top. Bake 10 minutes; then rduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 30 to 35 minutes more or until apples are tender when peirced with a skewer and the crust is browned.
