Dave's Garden Cookbook: Beef Stew

1 good size head of cabbage; cut in small sections
1 large can stewed tomatoes
1 large can mixed vegetables (I use the Veg-All Homestyle; bigger chunks)
1 large can carrots
1 large can of new potatoes
salt and pepper to taste.
In large stockpot;brown the stew meat just until good and brown on the outside.|
Add the cabbage and onion and enough water to cover all ingredients. Cook until tender.
Add remaining ingredients;liquid and all.
Let the stew simmer all day;or you can but this in your slow cooker and just walk away and let it cook all day long. The longer it sets the better the flavor.
If you have home grown veggies,that would be great. I never have any garden veggies so have to use the canned vegetables.|
I have also made a large batch and have frozen part of the recipe to have for another time.
