Dave's Garden Cookbook: Chocolate Chip Date Cake

Chocolate Chip Date Cake

Ingredients

1/2 lb. Chopped DATES
1 tsp. baking SODA
1-1/2 C. boiling WATER
Pour water over dates and soda...set aside to cool

1 C. SUGAR
2 sticks whipped OLEO
2 EGGS (beaten)
2 C. FLOUR
3/4 tsp. baking SODA
cream together sugar oleo. Add eggs. Add flour ( that has the remaining soda mixed in it). Add date mixture. Pour into a square baking dish (lightly greased).

Topping:
1/2 C. BROWN SUGAR
1 pkg. Semi-sweet CHOCOLATE CHIPS
1/2 C. NUTS
Sprinkle this mixture all over the top of batter. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.
