Dave's Garden Cookbook: Worksburgers

The 2001 Dave's Garden Cookbook

Worksburgers

By leaflady

Category: Soups and sandwiches

  Ingredients
1# ground beef or venison
1 lg. egg
1/4 cup ketchup
1 Tblsp. mustard(we like the horseradish kind)
1 Tblsp. Worchester sauce
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
dash of garlic powder
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1/2 cup grated Sharp Cheddar cheese
4-8 oz. Bleu cheese

  Instructions
Mix everything together well. Turn on the broiler of your stove and let it get hot. Move rack at least 2 inches below the source of heat. Cover the broiler pan with foil and lay as many slices of bread as it will hold on it. Cook the bread under the heat until golden brown. Remove from broiler and spred the untoasted side with some of the meat mixture. Don't make it very thick or you will have charred crusts before the meat is cooked. Broil until meat is cooked. If you get the meat a bit too thick you can finish cooking it in the microwave oven.

  Extra Notes
This is a favorite of our family. A close friend gave it to us many years ago.
