This plant was given to me by a friend. It volunteered in his chicken pen. His ladies free range around town, maybe a flower seed they picked up? It has long (3-5 inches) soft blooms starting in a magenta and fading to white. It produces lots of tiny black seeds ( I may regret this but love it.) It is still mild here so it is still blooming. Can anybody help?
Thanks for the celosia tip. I would not have thought of celosia. Looking it up in Rodales annuals, I think it may be Flamingo Feather instead of Wheatstraw. It says Flamingo has 4-8 inch flower spikes that are soft pink at the tips fading to pinkish white at the base. You make it seem easy ... Thanks much
You are welcome. Flamingo Feather is a cultivar, but here are some images that may help you identify which cultivar you have. This one is just Wheatstraw Celosia
