best way i found to get rid of most grass hoppers
place 1/2 c seven dust and about 1/2 c white caro syrp in a OLD hose end sprayer.
fill with hot water. near boiling.
shake well.
attach to hose and spray lawn.
the caro atracts them and the seven kills them. i sprayed in a 3/4 circle as far as a 50 ft hose would reach and killed all for over a block.
have to reapply after rain. need to shake every few mn as spraying
other killers might work with caro, but seven dose great and they eat it.
