My husband and I have been blessed to have seen 2 of these beautiful butterflies visit our gardens here in Lincoln, Nebraska over the past week. Sadly, the #'s have been declining rapidly according to many sources. I hope and pray that those who are butterfly enthusiasts, and live in the range where this butterfly still exists, will add violets to their gardens (host plant for the Regal Butterfly) to help maintain...and possibly help increase the #'s for future generations. Here are 2 links for those interested in learning more about this butterfly... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regal_Fritillary http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species?l=1677
