This beautiful moth is a famous attraction on the Island of Rhodes in the Mediterranean in the famous Petaloudes - the valley of the butterflies.
The moths live wherever they can find the Storax tree ( Liquidambar Orientalis) which has a characteristic strong scent.
In July and August, thousands of these moths flock to the Storax trees to breed, roosting during the day all over the trunks and branches of the trees.
