Taken on 17th June 2007, in my garden on Clematis flammula.
They are very small, about 1/8" long. Adults feed on flower pollen, larvae feed on dead insects but will infest household carpets and fabrics.
Taken on 19th June 2007. This is a little lighter colour, in the same area as the darker beetle. It's wings are visible.
Found this very tiny beetle (approx. 1,5mm) inside the house on the coach from which the fibres match so well with its shield patterns! 29th November 2008
Its popular name 'Varied Carpet Beetle' was well chosen!
in my brother's garden 14 May 2009, Belgium
