Neoscona crucifera - October 5, 2006 - Pittsboro, NC
Also called the 'Crucifix Spider'. (October 2004)
Parked out at the top of a dead Hollyhock plant. After a couple of days of snapping pics, it finally had enough, and left.
Getting it's nest just right.
A beautiful work of art - with the skill of making it each night, and removing it each morning. Such a tidy worker.
Pattern on underside of abdomen

Webbing in the walkway between our house and garden, about a 4 foot wide web
Built a web from flower planter to hummingbird feeder down to a small deck pond. Stuck my head into web before I knew it was there. Beautiful large spider.
