We were pretty excited to see this bird, a lifer for us. He sounded like a House Sparrow, so didn't notice him right away. The time we found him was a double dose of goodness being outside of our favorite bakery. He was not shy so remained long enough so my husband could see him. He was seen in this same spot a week or more later when some friends of ours went up to see him for the first time this year.
We did learn some people in the US view these birds as annoying as House sparrows. In a way it was kind of sad, because we were pretty excited about seeing our first one and they saw the bird as a pest.
