This is our ramada. It was made using rough-sawn or resawn lumber, and as I\'m not a big fan of shade structures that look like stacked kindling wood I did all of the joinery using \'half-lap\' joints in the wood which eliminated the need for fasteners like screws or nails since each of the joists between the posts locks into a half-lap four times. This also reduces the twisting that is often experienced when one has nailed and stacked lumber exposed to the elements.
