[HYPERLINK@commons.wikimedia.org] - great image of a community of C. floridus within environmental context

[HYPERLINK@www.illustratedgarden.org] - old botanical drawing (other media?) from Icones Plantarium Rariorum, edited by Nicolao Josepho Jacquin, 3 Volumes, pub. 1781 - 1793 ( [HYPERLINK@www.illustratedgarden.org] ) scanned & made available by the Missouri Botanical Garden - this site has a lot of old, rare books and manuscripts that are free & online

Because of the high price of oil of rose, it is sometimes stretched with other substances that contribute to the rose scent more cheaply. The roots of C. floridus provide one of those adulterants (see last sentence for a little of the chemistry involved in: [HYPERLINK@www.henriettesherbal.com] . I mention this link because it leads to an incredible array of knowledge and free, online books related to herbs, health, gardening, agriculture, etc. from many centuries ago to recent times.)
