The first spring after planting these, each bulb produced one or two blooms. The next spring, in early March, each bulb produced 5-8 blooms, which even survived for several days under 5 inches of sleet. I love the combination of light purple petals and orange-yellow stamens--they glow against the dull, dried leaf litter. My soil is very dry in the summer, thanks to a nearby large maple tree, and fairly wet in the winter.
