This shrub is also known as "Amargosa" in South Texas. It is a medicinal plant that has proven to kill parasites in the digestive system and help with constipation, colic, and other ailments of the stomach. Simply boil leaves to make a tea and drink quickly as it is very bitter and sour. Deer and livestock eat the leaves of this plant.
