I added this plant as a specimin to my landscape because it is on the Texas Endangered Species watch list. It is native to the hill country and grows in canyons in only 7 counties. Heavily browsed by dear. The blooms are born in clusters mostly, some singley, are about 1 1/2", and are supposed to be fragrant although I haven't noticed a fragrance yet, but my plant is new and fairly small. I hope I'm able to keep this lovely little native happy and I hope it becomes a more widely used plant. Worth looking into, although very hard to find.
April 2009 - one year later. Wow, you should see the blooms! Just beautiful! It hasn't grown much over the year, it has done very well in my red clay barely ammended soil. I love this plant so much, I'm going to try to find another to put in my back yard. Highly recommend it.
