I acquired this from Robin Savill, clematis specialist, UK, received and planted autumn 2002. It has been relatively slow to get to a reasonable size, but in it's 3rd year started flowering in the cool summer of 2005 in early June, whereas it is said to flower July-September, but it has flowered each year also to a lesser extent. It continued through the season, albeit not many flowers, they were a substantial size, larger than expected.

It is said to be best grown in full sun, mine does not get morning sun. It is also said to have 4-6 petals, mine had generally 6. The general colour is a reddish purple, with a more pronounced double red stipe down the middle of each tepal, and a white one down the reverse.

It was named after a peninsula in the Gulf of Finland. I have high hopes for this clematis, it contrasts well with c.flammula, and is growing in front of it up a copper tube pergola, the heights being similar.
