Harvest Moon, offers this description: "(90 days) This chicory forms voluminous heads with long, indented leaves, dark green with pronounced white ribs. At the base of the heads short, wide cusps grow, giving it a shape similar to a pine cone. Very succulant stems are tasty! Lovingly referred to by many Italian-Americans as "pine cone chicory"."
