I bought this as a young plant from Trehane camellia nursery 7 years ago. It has grown at an average rate, and flowered consistently. It is an upright shrub, quite open but compact, with medium sized very dark green leaves.

The flowers are medium sized, a bright phlox pink of semi-double form. It's flowering season is early to late. It has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, with a hardiness rating of H4, equivalent to USDA zone 7.

The Trehane catalogue mentions it as a Borde Hill hybrid. Originated Exbury Gardens England.

Exbury Gardens has a camellia walk planted in the 1930's, and the hybridizer F Hanger moved from there in 1947. His name has been mentioned elsewhere as the hybridizer.

Borde Hill was involved in plant expeditions in the early 1900's to China and other places.
