One of the biggest Staghorn fern in the world. This species is endemic to Papua-New Guinea, with the large crown of sterile fronds spreading up to 2 m. or more and its long pendant fertile fronds to 2m.

As some solitary species: P.grande, P.holttumii, P.superbum, P.wallichii and P.ridleyi, this giant epiphytic fern could only be propagated by spores.
