Like goldenrod, this plant is wrongly blamed for causing hayfever. 'Kugelsonne' is a German introduction; has bold yellow flowers about 3 times the width of the typical species, making them about 2" wide.Flowers are borne on the tops of 3' plants on uniquely ridged, clumping stems. The ray flowers are scalloped and lay flat, like little saucers of sunlight waiting to greet the day. Sneezeweed is an adaptable plant that is not bothered much by pests. You can shorten it by removing one third of the top growth in mid-summer. Deadheading brings on a second flush of blooms.
