Interesting flower on this plant...it fascinated me when I first saw one blooming in a grassy area of a university. There's usually not much to the plant, however. It's a host plant for Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillars, but even with just one caterpillar, it seem like the caterpillar needs much more foliage than one plant could provide. I've also seen the plant in the wild on grassy roadsides and an area near a dry creek which probably gets runoff or even flood waters on occasion. I've heard they get a thick, long root, so it would probably be hard to dig one up in the wild.
