Giant four o'clock, Mirabilis gigantea is a perennial Native to Texas and Oklahoma. I found this plant at Pappy Elkins park which is a wildscape in Tarrant county, North Central Texas.
The plant usually has only one tall stem, reaching over 5 feet high and the blooms are only at the top, they are pink and very small.
The flowers open late in the evening and are closed by morning.
The leaves are opposite running in alternate directions.
A very interesting plant.
