Native to Italy, Sicily, and Greece; highly adapted to be grown in the south (zones 7-9); the leaves are much narrower than Sternbergia lutea; golden yellow blooms in autumn; although rare in cultivation, it is quickly growing in popularity among bulb collectors in the south.
