Similar to the 'Sue Lawley' rose, 'Angela Rippon' was named for another of the UK's past news readers. She is still very active and well known for her legs - most news readers 20 years ago sat behind a desk and the joke was that they didn't have any legs. She showed hers off as an amazing 'Ginger'-style dancer in the 'Morcombe and Wise Show' one Xmas, a comedy programme where one slot contained a celebrity being made to look silly but being wonderful at the same time, e.g. Shirley Bassey walking down a ramp, singing, with one glamorous shoe and one gardening boot on.
