In 1897 the chemist, Felix Hoffmann, at Bayer in Germany, chemically synthesizes a stable form of ASA powder that relieves his father's rheumatism. The compound later becomes the active ingredient in aspirin named - "a" from acetyl, "spir" from the spirea plant (which yields salicin) and "in," a common suffix for medications. In 1997 Bayer has chosen this rose to celebrate 100 years existence of Asperin.

Asperin - Rose is a very floriferous variety with large, full, white flowers with a light pink hue during cooler weather periods, self-cleaning. It has healthy light green foliage and a bushy habit, ideal to grow it along foot paths, in large containers or as a standard.
