Aquatic or semi-aquatic plant from all over the Northern hemisphere, especially Europe. Forms large mats overslow moving water via long (4ft) rhizomes. Has large bright green palmate leaves with ovate leaflets held above the water on dark red stems. The small flowers form a pink bud and open into a white 5 petal heavily fringed star.

Seeds should be sown in Winter and set in pots standing in water.
