Cultivar is most difficult during Spring if its needs aren't met. It doesn't like cold/damp of Southern California Spring. It will lose its roots and will be weakened if it is not in almost pure pumice or perlite. I have reverted to that for all cuttings. The pumice is dampened as required.

As the plant shows sign of growth (begins to grow best in our location near Southern CA coast in early Fall), I apply liquid fertilizer to the watering. This plant prefers slightly acid water and soil. So we add about 1/2 teaspoon/gallon to its water. If a stem rots at the roots, I immediately remove it break off the rot. After callous, place in dry pumice. When it throws roots, begin light spray with dilluted liquid fertilizer.

When cuttings are made the new plant will take on the micro character of the place where the cut was made. Selection of desirable attributes can result in many different forms and colors of this desirable and unique cultivar.
