Distinguished by length of rhizome.
Stem: Light green often inconspicuously flecked with dark green near base. Sharply curved at base so leaf hangs vertically.
Leaf: Narrowly ovate, thin in texture, light green, margins slight undulate; piko greenish to faintly purple.

Aweu is a good vegetable leaf taro, has good flavor and is easy to grow, the corm is not very good and fiberous. This plant should only be grown with great care in warm wet areas, as it will spred by runners and take over your garden [and everyone's garden] It is listed as an invasive plant for good reason. [all parts must be cooked well before eating]
