Taste test for Niue Uli Uli,
-It has a good sweet flavor and great taste, it is a Table Type Taro and is much dryer in consistancy than the Poi types, --but it is a very good eating variety - it is low in Calcium Crystals, and can be eaten with minamal steaming, [as soon as the fork can go through it] The leaf has good flavor and is moderate in the amount of Calcium crystals- It requires a min boil time of 25 to 30 min,

Also known as Niue.
Medium to tall plant.
Quite similar in coloring to Kai Uliuli except at edge, which is narrow and reddish instead of broad and whitish or yellowish.
Stem: Long dark green slightly shaded with reddish brown, purplish at apex, reddish at edge, Brilliant dark pink ring at base with light pink 3-4 cm above.
Leaf: Ovaste, slightly concave, dark green with bluish cast; margins with numerous fine undulations; piko and marginal veins reddish purple.
