This is a beautiful evergreen subshrub. I blooms off and on all winter long in the Northern hemisphere!! It covers itwelf with blooms. Contrary to what has previously been published for this plant unless that person lives in Australia. Also enterec was the fact that it was not very colorful. I disagree. It is very colorful and if it was easy to propagate it would be nice to have in everyones winter garden!!! Either the white/yellow form or the pink yellow form is georgous..and it is quite fragrant. it is not tropical however and likes good drainage and sandy soil.

Small, spreading, evergreen shrub from West Central Europe in particular the Alps. Has small, lance shaped leathery, dark green leaves up to 1½ inch long. Bears flowers with white or yellow wings and lips, and a yellow keel which ages to pink or purple. The flowers are solitary or in pairs and are situated in the in the upper leaf axils.

Curious rather than pretty. Flowers mainly between April - July.

Prefers humus rich, sharply drained, moderately fertile soil in sun or partial shade, if in sun they need shade during the hottest part of the day.
