B. rajah is a species that is an excellent terrarium plant. It likes high humidity but will not stand wet feet. Freshly harvested seeds will germinate after eight weeks.

The smooth oval leaves are deep mahogany on both sides, with indented green veins. Blossoms are pale pink, appearing in summer.
