In USDA hardiness zones 7 and warmer, this is a popular choice for winter color. It has survived here in zone 8a temperatures in the single digits °F without any damage. As weather warms in spring and early summer, center of the plant elongates to about 18", and the typical light yellow flowers appear above the foliage. Once flowers produce seed, the plant usually dies.
