PAINTED LADY is an orange polychrome [Russell 1942] which turns out to mean deep orange with orange-red roughing on the petals. The shape is long petaled and the segments are pointed, giving it a spidery appearance. It blooms on upright scapes and has a good garden presence. Pretty cool -- I am happy I started collecting these older cultivars!
