Wonderful mum with a myriad of fall colors on one plant. I purchased a plant in a 3" pot and within months it was three feet tall. This year I will know better and cut it back in June or July to control legginess. It blooms and blooms with flowers constantly changing color. Hearty in both a patio pot and in the garden. Last week I potted about 12 new plants for our annual plant sale by simply pulling chunks out of the ground. They took off in pots as if they had been there for ages. Spreads fairly rapidly, but pulls easily and, since it is so spectacular you will have no trouble giving away the results.

The flowers are semi-double and begin to bloom as dark red then change to dark reddish-orange; then orange; then yellow-orange and finally as deep yellow. The blossoms have that “typical mum” scent. This mum grows to under 2 feet tall and is very bushy with hundreds of flowers from mid to late September and extending to a hard frost. It is hardy from zones 5 to 10 but could possibly survive in colder zones.
